In Australia, people are most likely to get drunk!

This was the result of an international survey, the Global Drug Survey. According to this, people in Australia were drunk more often than any other nation in the past year.
According to the survey, Australians were heavily drunk almost 27 times a year on average - that is equivalent to being drunk about every two weeks and is almost twice as much as the global average. That amounts to 15 drinking bouts a year. The Global Drug Survey asked more than 32,000 people from 22 countries about their drug and alcohol use. That may be unexpected, but Germany is only way behind in 19th place:

Australia 26.7 times
Denmark 23.8 times
Finland 23.8 times
USA 23.1 times
Great Britain 22.5 times
Canada 22.0 times
Ireland 20.0 times
France 17.5 times
Sweden 16.0 times
Netherlands 15.7 times
Hungary 15.1 times
Austria 14.3 times
Belgium 13.9 times
Poland 13.6 times
Switzerland 12.4 times
Brazil 11.1 times
Italy 10.8 times
Spain 10.8 times
Germany 10.6 times
Romania 10.6 times

In terms of frequency, the French are in the lead, who indulge in alcohol three times a week on average. Germany is on average here - just like Australia with around twice a week.

Thomas aus LAU, wondering about this result......

New Zealand should be at the top - We pride ourselves on being able to out-drink the Aussies.

This last year has been an anomaly with bars shut down for long periods due to Covid. Next year we'll be back on top.

I remember from my first visit to NZ in 89 that drinking alcohol in public areas was forbidden. Beer gardens were hidden behind fences and the restaurants didn´t offer any alcohol. So byo was the the only way to have wine with the dinner. And yes I remember the liquor shops, but to go there felt like strange behavior.
Maybe I did not get the secrets that time or times have changed a lot. 🍷🍷

But drinking with the Aussies is not really a challenge- do they have the same gen like the Asians and the become drunk quickly ?;)

Chis, waiting for comment

ya gotta stay in training or you lose your edge.

East Europeans and Scandinavians can drink like fish. It isn't always a happy experience though. I prefer my antipodean buddies when they are sloshed.
