Indicators - OCD kicks in.

Just got the Jarama prepped and ready for it's MoT after a year or so off the road and it's running as well as a standard bike will ever.  Everything works OK but one thing is really pissing me off, and although it's not a fail I'm at a loss to figure out why it's happening, more to satisfy my OCD than anything else.  The indicators will not flash at the same speed.  The left click on and off at the normal regular intervals, but the right flash at about half the speed.  I've swapped the bulbs and bodies round, cleaned the switch connections, checked the earth connections and short of replacing the lot (I've just got some little afternarket flashers fitted) I can't figure out why.

I know I don't need to fix it, but anyone got any suggestions why?

I would think about the basics of how the indicator works.
As far as I know inside is a spring steel strip which heats up and cools down to switch the lights on and off according to the current flowing. If a bulb blows more current flows in the circuit due to lower resistance in the circuit (bulb is obviously high resistance as it gets white hot).
So, maybe if the bulbs/connections are ok then your wiring may have broken down somewhere giving higher resistance and thus lower current (heat) to the steel strip?
I am NOT an electrician so maybe talking bollocks.
