Usually with time, you learn ways to use a site effectively. After a couple of years, Facebook is still the most frustrating clunky user-unfriendly place on the web. And Messanger is even worse. I usually skim for less than a minute and even that pisses me off to the max. No1, see a post and skim past it and try to return has that seen post disappear never to be found again? No2 try reading threads with multiple posts requires curser adjustments of a Micro Surgeon, micromillimetre movements scroll past multiple posts at once. Maybe it's the way my browser is set up, who knows? No3 every single time it automatically selects Edited posts only and I need to select all posts, why would anyone want the site mods only to show selected posts and not all posts. That's completely indicative of Facebook's style, coercive and censored manipulation of discussions. Really Mr Zuckerberg. Far from ok. The only reason I go there at all is because if you don't then you lose access to other people's contributions. I wish someone would make it less creepy. That word sums it up nicely. Same with X, its just as Creepy.

BTW it's that time of year. 99% of the emails I get lately are Fishing Expeditions, nicely written and appealing and very official looking with enticing requests to CLICK ON THE LINK. Bargepole comes to mind. Scumbags.

FB is no worse or better than any other social media type communication. They may have been started with the intention of connecting people, but it ends up that they all now exist purely as tools for whoever finds a way to make money from them, either legit or scam. They are all full of frustrating advertising and suggestions for sites and products their algorithms reckon you are interested in. Absolute shit, but they are still a great way to keep in touch with distant friends and family. Take them or leave them. If you don't want to be tracked and vulnerable to scamming and the like you have to dump your mobile phone, and good luck with that today.

Not worth going into why but I lost the use of a phone recently, it apparently offended someone in power here. The post on that subject got deleted from here. I went 3 days without a functioning phone right before the 5 day Snowy Ride into some remote country recently before I bought a new one. Everybody decades ago travelled without phones, but it's everybody's safety blanket these days. Just the GPS effect cements that effect on me.
