For those dreaming of owning one, Tom Quaye, who is emigrating to Perth, has one for sale (in UK). He’s owned it since 1983 so a bit of wrench to sell, but as Vince says a PITA to take with him to Oz.

Having taken 3 Laverdas into Aus (perth) to date with a fourth currently on a boat it actually isn’t that hard to do providing they are pre ā€˜89 ( to avoid ADR regulations). I have had no issues with registration including my monty clone with ā€œoriginalā€ pipes. Cannot comment on other states.

agree Rob, is very straight forward bringing pre 89 vehicles into Australia

I found dealing with Rover, the Government bunch that supervises this very typical, with no actual interface with a person possible. Only online and great if you can deal with that, I couldn't easily. So thankfully the shipper did it after I supplied the documents and there is plenty of that required. And it's bloody expensive, $4k to Sydney from England.

It was a surprise to find rover replaced the paper work previously - but worked flawlessly - and I am a 60 something on line incompetent!

I got an email about 3 or 4 months back about Rover going offline for a week or slightly more for an update to their system and I think that's happened a couple of times since I used it for my Atlas so maybe it got less complicated. The people who design this stuff need to do Beta runs with non-computer people, eg drop the wording that isn't recognised by lay people not doing it every day. One of my stumbling blocks was not having a functioning printer scanner, or knowing how to do that stuff with my phone camera. Sign this form and emailing it back becomes a nightmare, you might think they would have a physical office in Sydney, not a chance. All online including the help desk so I was happy to pay to get it done.

Over the last five years we have brought in Ten Laverdas to Perth Western Australia. All pre 1989 bikes.
Have used Moto Freight in Heathrow London as the shipping agent.
Bikes Abroad here in Australia.
Have also used the same companies to bring in a sea container of Laverda part's in 2018.
Price for shipping and receival including quarantine inspection and import duty
Comes in between 4 to 4.5k AUD.
Just make sure the Motorcycle is very clean before shipping to avoid any extra Quarantine fees.
How do I know , I missed a small amount of Cow shit under the rear guard when I was cleaning the bike in Europe prior to shipping.
Quarantine here at Fremantle Western Australia found it and got stuck in.
Can't remember how much it cost but it was not cheap.
It's really not hard to do when you use the the professionals.
Cheers to all.
Chris.
Italbrit Classic Motorcycles.
Western Australia.

Andy, bless him scrubbed the Atlas very well before dropping it off. No extra charges in Sydney. I used Bikes Abroad as well. All went very smoothly.

Got me curious. Is the bike listed anywhere? Might have to plan a trip to UK..

For such a ā€˜rare’ bike suddenly a whole scutch of bikes has come up for sale, must be an age thing. šŸ¤”
However, it means potential purchasers have a good choice for once, and possibly might be able to buy two for not much more than M&S want for one….
