Invitation Meeting Laverda Stammtisch-Heftrich in Bauschheim, Germany

We had a great turnout of Laverdisti at the meeting over the weekend, more 120 degree bikes than in previous years.
Several new guests that either aquired a Laverda for the first time or are in the process to rejuvenate their bikes.

Indeed Gerald, it was great to see and talk to so many Laverdisti folk again!
Here are some more pics from my side:

On my way back home, my 3c - or rather, its battery - unfortunately gave me trouble (and up the ghost). Roadside assistance couldn't do anything about it, so in the end, a trailer had to be organized on a Sunday (thanks, Piet!).

So, I didn't get home, tired, until 9 p.m. (instead of 3 p.m. I’d aimed for). But hey, ultimately, that's just a "luxury problem" …

I am really happy to have a tiny digital volt meter mounted on my 3c dash. I had no idea my bike was running at close to 16 volts at 100kph. So helpful to get an early warning of a failing battery when on a trip. Just $20 on eBay.

My 3c has got a complete new wiring loom including a Shindengen SH530-12 3.1 Regulator Rectifier in 2018:

However, checking charging voltage seems a good idea while I'm at it!

Nothing like a magneto.
Those dynamos and alternators are unnecessary gadgets. Not to mention electric starters.
This is where Massimo's quest for modernity and "The Market" has got us.

And they can lose a cell as quickly as hitting a switch - which means game over. Waiting for the truck ...

Exactly as it happened Quentin! At least the spot I was stranded was somewhat more comfortable; It was a gas station with refreshments and air conditioning. And not to forget the video surveillance, in case I'd have had to leave the boik there overnight.

Paul,
are we looking forward to new thread, you doin' it right by fitting magneto, kickstarter and carbide lamp to the 750 SF2 or S?
No.
But I enjoy other motorcycles though I also bought the Vincent because it has an electric start. Though, I've cornered the art of starting it on the kick, it simply needs choke even when lukewarm and starts first kick.
It does also have an alternator and an electronic ignition.
:)

But a magneto is great.

Just an observation, the original Bosch HKZ CDI on 3Cs was a self-excited ignition so fits the definition of magneto, in my opinion! As in didn't use any power from the 12V electrics. Apart from the engine stop relay...

It's the reason I still have it on mine, albeit with the Motodd/Boyer/Bransden upgrade.
I couldn't understand why other Laverda Riders were immobilised by a flat battery.
Mine starts first bump, from cold, with a dead 'un and will run happily with the battery removed.
Progress, as in the "Too many gadgets in new vehicles?" thread, can often be retrograde, IMO.

My first 1000k trip from Sydney to Melbourne in pissing rain and I had starter issues and later starter relay problem. I was amazed at how easy fully loaded it bump started at bearly walking pace. But after fitting Johns Ignition the bike did have improved performance.
