Is shellite an effective disinfectant?

Why not isolate the elderly and high risk population and let the rest of us get the disease and get immunity? Way simpler than joining the lemmings and submitting to global mind control.

Juts saying .....

Young people die Jim.
Quite a lot.

Number one cause of death in this shitshow .........."died of health complications related to the novel coronavirus".

Well, yeah, obviously. Same with the flu - you die from pneumonia or similar lung infection, a complication caused by the flu or COVID virus affecting your immune system.

Heard the stat today, Italy, 36 DAYS ago, first death from COVID - as of today 9,000 dead, 960 in the last 24 hours. Noone is going to tell me they are all 'old people'.  Spain, France, US etc all heading in the same direction ... Are you going to guarantee that food and essential meds etc can be delivered to the elderly in quarantine with zero chance of introduced infection ... basically sterilise everything going into their homes?

But the soap and water would give the virus a hard time and most of them would go down the plug hole. I think that's how hand washing works. It doesn't necessarily kill the bugs, just flushes them away.

(Firstly, I'm an electrician, not a microbiologist... :D)
As mentioned earlier, the virus cells have a fatty coating. That coating is broken down by soaps, detergents and solvents, then the virus dies or can't replicate or something.
So soap is actually very effective, as is anything which breaks down fats and oils. Probably Shellite too, to get back to the original question...  :D
The virus enters the body through the mouth, nose, eyes and possibly the ears. Not the hands. So handle what you need to but make sure you don't touch anything else, especially your face, until you've washed your hands! (this is harder than you think)
Also regarding the virus on surfaces, every hour that goes by means less living virus on a surface. This means that your chances of picking up enough virus to actually get infected reduces over time. There's been lots of talk about the virus living for up to a week or two, but on most surfaces there is almost none left after two or three days.
Don't relax, but don't get too paranoid either. The main risk is always catching it directly off another person.

Apparently a very good remedy for preventing the virus getting from your hands to your face/eyes/mouth is chilli powder.
You wash hands for 20 seconds with soap and water and then smear a good dose of chilli on your fingers. You won?t touch your face more than once after that.....

100 years ago Australia lost 15,000 people to Spanish flu: i see nothing in the behaviour of average Australians today to suggest the final toll from COVID-19 will be any lower.. :'( :'(

Unbelievable - disinfectants are in short supply in Germany!

After I needed disinfectants, I organized 30 liters of isopropanol (99.9%) from the printing industry in the first step and mixed a disinfectant with distilled water, hydrogen peroxide and Glycerian according to the WHO recipe.

I have used it to supply medical practices and three companies for free.

Since there is still a need, I "sacrificed" 250 liters of best "Jamaica Rum" with 75% alcohol (ethanol) today.
We will mix further disinfectants from this tomorrow and distribute it free of charge.
Excessive prices are currently being called for disinfectants (0.4 liters = 85 EUR). That?s not ok. Such seller will not come in heaven and they wil not get there several virgins.

Difficult times require unusual measures.

A brewer asked me why we don't let the patients take the rum orally straight away ;-)

Crazy times.

I wish all of us that we get through this well.
