It's ALIVE!

Yeah, only seal up the standard inlet if you are going to cut holes in the bottom. Induction sounds much better IMHO  ::)

Hi Scott,

3 holes are not necessary, as there is a hole on the back of the airbox, too.  Did Wolfgang send you the "snorchle" tube, too?

Please also check if you have the 4 holes in the rear end of the silencers (4 x 8mm holes each side). If not, see here for instructions, it also shows the holes in the airbox (2 x 40mm):

Are they the prices your getting your spares at?
Man!! I've been ripped off....  :D

You sent me the snorkel tube with the bike.  So, two holes in the bottom, it is.  And, no, the silencers have no extra holes in back.  Thanks for the diagrams.

Terry, by standard inlet, are you talking about the rectangular opening in the left side of the box where the air filters are inserted?

No. I'm talking about the elliptical hole on the back of the airbox, where the snorkel goes. The three holes I cut through the bottom of the airbox align with the three carbie inlets. I blocked off the rear of the box so that the airflow is in one direction thus cutting down turbulence. The amount of holes and the sealing of the original inlet wasn't based on any scientific airflow theory (I'm not a mechanic ;)), just what seemed logical to me. How many holes you chose to cut and whether you choose to seal up the original inlet is entirely up to you.
I use a foam filter, which I wash in two-stroke fuel, when the fuel evaporates, it leaves a fine oil coating.

Scott, follow the information detailed for the additions for Corsa spec, that is how your SFC1000 should be set up. I see no need to fill the hole that the snorkel is fitted to, the purpose of the additional holes in the air box is simply to improve the airflow across the filter. In fact the snorkel is redundant with the additional holes in the bottom of the air box, it's purpose was to reduce induction noise, in the main to meet US regulations at the time, something I think you're rebelling against now you've experienced the intake roar. The snorkel may also restrict airflow at higher engine speeds as it can collapse on itself under this condition.
