It's been 50 years ago today.

Remember it well! (y)

But even more memorable for me was the 1971 "Fight of the Century", Ali-Frazier at the Garden. Can't remember which teacher it was, but he came into the classroom wheeling a television on a trolley... "Going to learn something different today!" Early days of live satellite telly, watching Ali loose on points.

I was 7 in 1974. The only boxing I did care about was that from my older brothers, who mistook me for a punching bag... Did not favor boxing much therefore for many years... Do now appreciate watching (!!) a GOOD and fair boxing fight, though they are rare I feel. Saw some of the fights of Ali as a recording. He was special, defenitely...

I was 22 in 1974 and my 1973 SF1 had already done 19,000 miles. (oil change records, Oct 1974) Its birthday (I still have it as an Egli) is 21st May.

I wasn't particularly interested in ICE bikes at that time, just pedal powered bicycles but I remember watching the fight live. I enjoyed watching a good fight back then, and still do now, but soon learned at school participation wasn't for me, I left that to the ones with less brains...

Bought my first Laverda in 1974, an early disc brake triple😊👍 Sold it in the late 70’s but have tracked it down and managed to buy it back a few years ago. No room in the shed at the moment to commence the rebuild but everything bar the forks are done so should be a quick assembly 😂😂
