Jota 180 HTZ ignition replacement?

Thanks Piet!..I thought the DMC/32 for Mk1s was the complete new kit...that backing plate/new single inducer/new reluctor and double charging coils are nice change and highly recommended. What would one ask for if they want the new kit?

Not sure if the old kit will remain available.  Quite possible that Wolfgang can already supply the new ones.  Just specify the newer type.

Got to get around to fitting mine...

Got mine from Wolfgang in September. Very painless change from the old DMC. The position of the reluctor in the documentation was unclear as it can be installed 180* flipped. I took a picture as it worked for me:

I like the term relucter
its a thing that does the relucting
sort of sounds me out I suppose, but that would be noise generating wouldn't, "sounds" what do you think.
relucter, relucter, it doesn't do the relucting thing does it, far from it, I mean its the getter goiner isn't it?

?a magnetic device, called a reluctor, that is operated by the distributor shaft to produce timed electric signals, which are amplified and used to control the current to the induction coil. These newer ignition systems are more reliable than the old, permit better control of the engine, and produce higher-voltage?

Not sure about that one 🤔but will take your word for it 🤣

So the Whit kit I asked about is the old one coil model ... perfect would have been an easy mistake.

Cheers guys

Just to be clear - the 'one coil' shown is a replacement charging coil. It's used instead of the 'magneto' coil which powers the original HKZ black box to fire the plugs.  The kit pictured retains the original Bosch pickups which will by now usually suffer from deteriorated wiring.

An advantage of the Ignitech system over all the others is that you have pretty much unlimited scope to program your advance curve. It also has a heap of other programmable functions that you have the option of using. It's almost a mini-ECU.

My 2 cents worth is replacing the stock Laverda 1000 ignition (78 3c with Bosch )with a WITT system was the best improvement I made to my bike, it literally transformed its rideability. I am sure Red's system is as good if not better and there are others out there. If you're still using a stock ignition system on a Laverda triple my question is why?

I have both a Witt DMC2 on one and CDI on t"other,I really can"t tell any difference :o.But I do very little town riding.Red"s would be much better though for lights on riding.

I have run 180 Jotas with the original CDI, the Todd Boyer conversion, a Witt DMC and then the Redax system.  They can all work from an ignition perspective, but I particularly like the Redax system because it totally fixes the worst defect in the bike - the woeful generator - by replacing it with a modern Kawasaki part. Also, the kit is beautifully made and fits perfectly.

So you can now have the best Laverda ever, without having to bump start it at night.  😀😀
