Jota frame colour

Hi - so the frame has been re-sandblasted which required a course sand as the powder coating was very well applied, and so now begins the repaint.

One question - is the silver a gloss finish or semi gloss - I'm thinking the latter based on mine pre blasting, but figure it was faded.

Cheers, Nick

When I get mine painted RAL9006 White Aluminium then it is gloss finish.
Not a brilliant gloss but just as it comes out of the gun.
Yours pre- blasting would have been almost 40 years old so pretty scuffed and faded.

Did it in the silver paint mix I posted earlier (RAL 9006) but it is a base coat, topcoat of clear 2 pack gloss. Nice and hard and reasonably chip resistant.

why would you want to use powder coat? when originally it was paint.  Thin, see through, almost silver was the code, and, don't scrub the flux and residues from the welds, because they are needed to rust through and blister the paint after a few months, oh! and if your painter can miss a few bits, like in tight corners or gussets, then it will be a proper original job.

Stove enamel in any colour you like is my choice of finish, blasted first, primed and painted then baked, I have an idea that this service might even be coming back into fashion, the local powder coater has never stopped doing stove enamel, and now reports that he is doing more and more of it. Inevitably, "one off" restorations are done to a higher standard than a factory job, mainly because we want them to be just so and are doing it "by hand"

For decades it was an industry joke that Italian paint and electrics were crap, why would you want any of that on your fresh resto?

and my point is ?????,
buggard  if I know!
