Jota in Sydney. not cheap

There has been unusual inflation in Australia in the asking prices for a while. If you check the prices for Ducati bevels and the 916/998 series you will be amazed. Kind of not funny. With this Jota, I see the engine number "7718" does not match the number "7036" on the round RSA rego (?) sticker. Am I missing something?

well spotted, I stopped looking once I saw the engine number

#7036 would make it a Series 1 x 1980 Jota which it certainly is not so the #7718 has to be correct

Yes my bike is 7719,made the journey from London to South Africa to Melbourne than to me in Sydney, then onto Brisbane to get Redaxed, then back down to Sydney for me to enjoy, what a bike!

I am not sure about ëye watering"prices, if 1974 GT 750's are between $40,000 and $50,000 and Ducati Darmah's in the $30,000 mark
then a 1981 Jota should be a $40,000- $50,000 bike. I know that a lot of these bikes have become purely an investment opportunity for some but the fact is there is a lot less of these than the Ducati's I have mentioned and if you remember at the time that those Ducati's were the poorest of cousins and also the poorest of quality particularly the GT 750 where as the Jota's of that period were always ranked highly.

The mileage quoted on these bikes is insane. Either the things sat idle for decades or it is plain bullshit. My SF1 had 19,000 MILES (not km) on it when I bought it from its first owner in early 1975 - it was less than 2 years old. How can a 1972 SF have 22,500km after 50 years?

A Cape Town registered bike, no less.
Non-standard seat cover, rear indicators, and horns, lhs frame tag missing, so one wonders if that is true mileage.
I'll nose around and try and get more information about the bike.

Prices have nothing to do with the quality of the things. Just desirability.

For 45k I’d want to see it presented far better than that. Not even close in terms of finish and originality as some of the bikes sold by some of this forums members 😀👍
