I reckon I could write a book on diagnosing bloody ignition faults now
The other weird thing that threw me off track for a while was that cylinders #1 or #3 would backfire on overrun, when the problem was actually on the other ignition channel (cylinder #2). The Ignitech must have some internal connection between channels, maybe to synchronise them or smething. Anyway, I initially thought it must have been a carburettor issue. I suppose it confirms the old adage that most carburettor problems are ignition related.
Now that both ignition channels are working OK, there's no backfiring at all. Carbies are working much better!
I reckon electronic ignitions work on witchcraft and magic. At least I could understand battery/coil ignitions with points and condensers.
