Hi all , does anyone know if plastic molded tail units were ever copied ? i know motalia do a fibreglass one . i have a new never fitted tailpiece made in plastic (molded) were they supplied bare grey plastic or painted? any thoughts

The ILOC are working with someone in the UK to get plastic parts 3D printed at a reasonable price. So far we have 3C etc side panels and later plastic tool tray. I'm sending an airbox assembly to the guy tomorrow to be copied. I have an unused Boba carbon fibre tail and inner here but I'm not sure how accurate they are, they look great to me and if they were suitable I would send them for copying too. His prices are typically around £50 for a side panel direct but they can be bought on ebay. Might pay to wait a little longer.

Thanks for the info , i think its the same guy i spoken with about loaning my spare tailpiece for a patern

I bought a grey molded plastic tailpiece unit for my '78 1000 from Wolfgang in BC, Canada, many years ago, after the original tailpiece shattered like it was made from crystal glass, the result of a crash. I don't know if Wolfgang still offers them, but the one I bought from him was excellent quality and is still in use on my bike today, with no cracks (more than 15 years).
