Hello , I have acquired a 1982 Jota 180 and wondered if there is a side stand available… also …. Which is the best electronic ignition for the bike and approximately how much cost wise?

Many thanks!

You can make your own kit using the description here (press "Download" on the top right side and see the drawing):

It mounts to the original footrest-holder. A side stand from a Kawasaki is used, you can search with "side stand" on this forum to find which one, please.

For the electronic ignition, there are three mainly used versions:

-DMC 3.0, a completely pre-programmed and relatively easy to install version from Moto Witt, called DMC (Digital Motor Control), currently in Version 3.0 and since 30+ years on the market. replaces the original pickups and ignition boxes completely; offers different ignition curves. local dealers might have them in stock, else they can order them; or try www.octeam.de, they read, write and speak english 😉

-Sachse Ignition https://www.elektronik-sachse.de/shopsystem-3/en/digital-ignition-zdg-3-23-for-laverda-180-ii.html has just one curve if I am not mistaken, relatively easy to install

-Kit from REDAX in Australia, using the Ignitech Ignition. You can get it also completely pre-configured I think, Red does a great job on these things. Mainly focused on the more experienced people who want to potentially also Programm their own ignition curves etc.. You can contact Red either here on the forum or via Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/p/Redax-Laverda-100063710341535/

Hello Clive,

Welcome to the site and laverda ownership too,is this your first?

as previously mentioned you can either sort your own kit out using the downloaded drawing and by sourcing your own Kawasaki side stand which is what I did, otherwise there are kits already available.

Either way it really is a great addition to your bike as is the electronic ignition upgrade, there is so much useful information to be found within these pages so do your research and don't be afraid to ask the odd question,we all had to learn somehow.
Good luck

Steve

My set up for reference.

As you will read up,there can be a conflict with some centre stand tangs, but I was very lucky with mine.

Hi Steve,

Many thanks for the welcome! Much appreciated. This is my first Laverda which is joining my collection of mainly Italian bikes. Taken a while to find an unmolested one. Looking forward to grabbing the tiger by the tail!

Thanks kindly for the offer of help. I am sure I will make the most of that! Thanks again.

I got the Sachse on my Motodd using Red's hall effect pick ups. Out of the 10? maps preprogrammed there are only a couple that's usable, as I think some are for the 750, I may be wrong. I use #4 and my bike runs fantastic so haven't bothered trying any others.
Brought one of Red's Ignitech systems for my 750 SFC which hasn't been installed yet but looking forward to getting rid of the points.
