As a matter of interest can one get inserts to convert an mph Speedo off a 76 1000 to kmh? I am told one can but have been unable to locate one.

You can replace the faceplate so the indication is in MPH, but the odometer will still record KMH.
The speed deflection is the same, the gearing for MPH or KPH recoding is different.

You can also get the gearing changed to reflect mph you just need to find someone who can do it for you.

There have been converter units available that fit in line on the cable with internal gear ratios that have 1:1.6 or 1.6:1 to keep the existing speedo and adjust its reading mph to/from kph but I haven't seen these offered anywhere in recent years.

Based on some of the responses here, please confirm that you currently have a Denso Kph speedo with odo in Kms and would like it to read in Mph with odo in miles.

Have you considered swapping your mph assembly for a kph version - a simple exchange - perhaps a trade possibility?
