Kuwait Police GTL restoration

I'm restoring an ex-Kuwait police GTL and wanted to make it as close to the original as I could. Thanks to John Lord I got some nice new side panels and apart from the exhausts, everything was original and moving along nicely, but what colour scheme? I decided it needed to be white, like the photo I had of a desert cop, but felt it needed a little colour. Lo and behold, it turns out the Kuwaiti flag has three horizontal stripes of green white and red, just like the Laverda logo. It had to be done.

Afraid that's all down the drain.

I did have second thoughts after hauling it home, looked like I had bitten off more than I could chew and was tempted to throw it in a lake. ;) Was a hard, tough 4 months of restoration work, but it was well worth it in the end.

The ones from Kuwait were white (and I understand the ones in Libya were white too), but the Iraqi ones were beige - I didn't like that look.

All the bikes included in the Kuwait haul back then were painted white. Many still had the police shield of arms on the tanks, roughly dabbed over with black.

I had the impresssion the khaki GTL was a one-off, an example of what might/could have been. Easy to replicate with all my rusty, crusty spare odds and sods.:)

I just need to fit a big bug screen, siren, blue light, panniers, dummy radio and a big whip antenna and I'm done. Then, sadly, she goes up for sale....
