Holy shaez!! What a classic. I'd just done the 270 crank conversion and Vena and Trevor dragged me up to Kallista ... and made me line the old beast up with the sparkling Lavs - and I got a trophy for 'Best Laverda Special'!! Still got it tucked away too. As you can see, an unfinished SFQ!! Got the 17" Akronts on then though.
Did a few miles on her before the kidlet arrived (she's 20 in a month!!) - so no, that wasn't the last time she ran, Hooksey! But nice find!!

He sold it not long after the (Gellibrand?) run where he decked it and broke his collarbone. Went to someone in Adelaide I believe.
Had brief contact some years back where he asked me to translate a letter into italiano re a kite festival he wanted to attend over there. Never heard back after that.

Back when we did it there was no paranoia of the fuzz and I think the limit was still 100? I was having a hoot on the SF on the GOR and thought I was moving pretty quick until Harold came past on his Formula. No way was I pushing the beast that far - when i rode one I realised why it would have been folly to try and stick with him ... they are just so rock solid and easy to ride very fast. Once it opened up towards Apollo Bay he must have been pushing 160+ and the limits of the SF's suspenders were well and truly reached.
Maybe the SFQ will cope better - but then only a fool would risk the licence evap these days along there.
