LAVERDA 1000 3C/3CL side stand

But worth switching it back to RH gear change if you can cope with the change. Might improve your options manifold - and should make it easier to get the peg pos you need.

I am 5 11 and portly. It takes some effort to scrap my 15mm lower footpegs, possibly if you know the bend and push it. My pegs pivot so that helps It makes so much difference after 400ks on my comfort, plus slightly raised handlebars. I will take some pics in a day or so.

I've modified it further since this, but you get the idea. First one is standard rearset position with hydraulic rear brake, second is rearset with drop plates and a heel brake for the drum rear

View attachment 94743 Will have to be this "improved" Moto Officina setup, if I can get my hands on one.
I have a side stand fitted in the same position on my '81 Jota.
I did modify it, and really only use to steady the bike to put it on the centre stand when loaded up for a trip.
All the after market side stands I have seen are not ideal, either to far forward or to far back, not really supporting the weight of the motor.
I wouldn't trust it for long term storage.

In hindsight I would most likely try the bushman or similar set up.

But this only my opinion.

I mucked about modifying my original side stand after it allowed my 3c to tip over fully loaded with camping gear heading home from the first Philp Island GP. We did probably close to 4000ks that week fully loaded up including 400ks of remote Snowy Mountains Dirt. Fire trailsThose stands are hard to get a foot to, I hate seeing stands mounted off engine studs, ask modern KTM owners how dangerous that can be. I beefed mine up and changed its length and still, it was crap. The Kawaski kit is so much better, other than ITS NOT ORIGINAL MAN for the Rivot counters, it's just brilliant especially as you get older and definitely if you carry any luggage. It's an absolute keeper for me I shudder when I see blokes wobbling while doing that one-leg ballet dance using only the centre stand when it takes 15 minutes to bolt these on usualy, I spent months searching for a Cargiva side stand for my Pantah trying to do the same to it, that was insanely harder to find and fit but that also ended up a no-brainer. .

Have you tried riding with the Laverda rearsets? They are nothing like racing rearsets and lots of people find them more comfortable than std fwd pegs as they open up the hip angle.

I took some side stands down to Ged at GCS in the UK yesterday and a couple of them were for the Ceriani forked triples he said. If you want one of them let me know.
Incidentally Classic Bike were down there in his little workshop taking photos for a feature in the magazine.

I came across this interesting discussion ref side stands for the triples, my son has a 79 registered Jarama that has been fitted with standard left hand brake and Rh gearchange along with std steel foot pegs is anyone aware of a suitable side stand for this configuration without modifying the original centre stand it has Ceriani forks if that is valid also, I will attempt to upload a couple of photos if that helps.
Cheers... Seumas

Hi pf1, regarding your post I am looking for a side stand for Ceriani forked triple and would appreciate if you could message me with details of mounting & if they would be suitable for a bike with original foot pegs & Lh brake std setup
Cheers..... Seumas

Seumas they are the original factory design which bolts onto the lower left front engine mount under the engine. They aren't a fantastic design but they are ok for occasional use. They will fit a standard bike without modification. Let me know if you want further details.

Pf1 appreciate your input & info regarding the side stand but having read lots of forum posts it appears that the original stands mounted on the engine mount stud seem to be unstable when supporting the bike weight & have a tendency for the bike to fall over so it looks like he will have to put up with the centre stand unless he decides to go back to rear sets & can utilise the std foot peg mounting which appears to be optimal for C of G for a side stand
Cheers...... Seumas

Yes I remember when I got it originally it was a pce of piss just had to put a bit weight down on stand fulcrum and it was on there not so easy since it was stripped for resto probably just needs adjusting properly will look at it once engine is back together etc

The important things to check are that the stand isn't twisted, the holes aren't worn oval, the bushes are a snug fit and lubed, the bolts are tight and the rear shocks are the correct length.
I have been putting mine on the stand while still astride it, since it was new.

And the stops not battered so the stand goes too far forwards.
I built mine up with weld on the 3C which could now roll off the stand if I sneezed.
Will have to get the file out.

With no side stand on my bike I never try to park it if the ground slopes away from me when putting the bike on the centrestand (standing to its left). Nothing worse than that feeling of the bike starting to fall away from you ... almost impossible to stop once it's a few degrees beyond vertical. Similarly, never park it facing downhill with more than a minimal slope. I'm a short arse, which doesn't help. I struggled on Hookesy's limmo Corsa with its longer shocks and LH gearchange (I always put my left foot down first)!
