I would like to understand if the original cap of the 1973 Laverda 1000 3C was this one with the smaller seal:

I read that to ensure the seal, Laverda supplied this seal to be placed under the cap; is it real ?
Someone often found it broken inside the tank ...

I think the extra seal came along later because they all leaked petrol over the tank when full of fuel and braking hard. I think the first one I saw was on a 1200.

Mine, a '76, came with the flat bottom larger seal. The smaller seal type was fitted to later bikes, to reduce the amount of fuel slopping out of a full tank when braking.
So, I think, it's safe to assume the flat type would've been fitted in '73.
