US Spec. They had a stupid law, back in the '79, which forced a maximum of 85 mph on all speedometers.
It meant I had the needle pegged pretty much the whole time and used my watch and mile markers to calculate my speed.
The law was finally thrown out as a complete waste of time in '82.

From the "Land of the Free" which brought you "Prohibition", and look how well that worked?
