LAVERDA 1200 cylinder block

going any bigger creates clearance issues, liners get too thin therefore having to bore out the cylinder block to take larger liners. Can't say what the maximum bore on standard liners are.
As Red mentions, yours will have overbored cases, barrels and larger OD liners (std 1200?), Rob. You'd never get 1145 out of a std 1000 liner.

My 880 twin has the barrels bored to the point of breakthrough. In hindsight would probably have been better to go 1mm (or even 0.5mm) smaller OD on the liners even if a tad thinner wall. Or go 860cc.

Not sure what you referring to Q.
My motor was always a 1200 that was bored to 81mm to fit Reds Ross pistons. Nothing outlandish like trying to squeeze in 82-83mm pistons which is what the topic is referring to.
Re read my posts, no mention of 1000 sleeves

Sorry Rob, but the topic is to find a standard Laverda 1200 (80mm) cylinder block with or without liners. It is for a friend of mine and the pistons will be 81mm, because - as Red already has mentioned - this is on the safe side. Ciao, Gert

Sorry Gert, yes the topic is you wanting a set of 1200 barrels.
As with most topics posted, they lead down a rabbit hole. I was responding to Vince's statements.
I have no further comments as they have been addressed thanks to yourself, Robjota and Red.

Like Paul's. Keith Nairn bored my Jota to take 78 mm pistons. I recall him saying that in his view this is the optimum size for these engines. Presumably no point going large unless you fuel it properly, probably Dyno runs needed with Dells? I went with new Mikuni flat sides as supplied and fitted by Keith. C4 cams. 78 mm high comp pistons and Mikunis seems to be a happy combination of driveability and high end oomph😊

I have 1200 barrels on which a workshop has measured the bores. Cylinder 1: 80.50 - 80.55, Cylinder 2: 80.53 and Cylinder 3: 80.50-80.51.
Contact me if You still search for the cylinder block.

Sbaglio mio, Roberto! (my mistake) I should have remembered you started with a 1200. A lot of 1000s are now 1150s courtesy of Red's torque monster conversions.
