Laverda 1200 Panniers

Hi all!
I am restoring my Laverda 1200 hundred. I am considering the option to install to panniers. Any ideas?
I thought about the Krauser, they are easy to source as they are widely use for bmw’s.
I guess is impossible to find original Laverda panniers, or the tubing structure to hold them. I was thinking to build them myself, but It would be great to have some reference photos to do them as close as possible to the original, anyone has photos of it?

I use Hepco & Becker, 30 L but they also have 40 L paniers

I found some holders for the RGS but nothing for the classic CL models…
I would like to install the Krauser Panniers, i like them better! I had them in my R100RS and my working suitcase fits perfectly😛

This is the only photo I found but I can’t see the tubing structure

I have just attached a pair of Givi panniers on my RGS. Modified the original brackets to fit the RGS Regards.

I fitted Krauser panniers from a 1970's BMW to my 750 GT. It did not require much modification to make the Krauser frames fit the Laverda. Some cutting and welding was required.

Not 100% sure about that, but Hepco & Becker builts a system at least for the 1200/Jota frames (and RGS/SFC, where with the SFC, it does not 100% fit for for the topcase-mount!), but currently only in black:

There is a wide range of luggages that fit that system, from classic to quite modern. I have such a system on my 1000 SFC and have traveled a lot with it. used the "Journey" cases: https://www.hepco-becker.de/seitenkoffersatz-journey-42-mit-schwarzer-blende.html

Advantage of these is that you can spray/paint the black glossy part in the color of you bike and make some stickers with Laverda-Logo to put on the Hepco-Becker logo. Looks then as if it was made from Laverda for your bike... ;-)
And they are BIG! 42 liters each... There are softbags available, which makes it easier to leave the luggage on the bike and just take your belongings with you. Big enough even to store most helmets in them, which is a nice feature, too.

It looks like a great solutions, however I am not sure if the holders are available, may be they are produced on request, would be great if they would show some photos… they say that most of their cases would fit, which is good because they have a wide range.
I think I will give them a call.

Do you think that the compatibles models are similar to a CL? Jota 1200 ‘80 and ‘81? I am not too familiar with Jota models.

Hi Miguel, I think the 3CL used - at least from 1980 on - the 1200 Frame. easiest to spot is the angle of the rear suspension. 1st pic is a 3CL with relatively upright rear suspension, 2nd with the forward position of the rear suspension. That should indicate the 1200 frame.

Hope this helps. The point why this is important is that the luggage rack might mount (as on the RGS/SFC) to the upper suspension mount if I am not totally wrong. I know that someone on here from the german forum members has lent his bike to H&B to get the rack made up. And yes, it's produced on request, which normally takes about 3-4 weeks. Might have been quicker end of season, but who knows. HTH

I have been modifying some SW Motec pannier racks to fit my Atlas and 3c. Finding mounting points especially on the Atlas or any bike with lots of plastic is not easy. The only option I have for the front upper Atlas mount is a flat blade snaking out from above the rear mudguard and under the seat and where it bolts to the subframe. If you can buy one already made definitely go there. This is not easy work.

Great! That sounds great! It looks the company took it seriously! Because you know, some online shops are showing compatibilities but…🙃
In this case I will order a set and specify that I have the forward suspension mounting.

I will look for a compatible set of panniers that have a classic touch, your mentioned option is good if you can custom them, but I am not sure how they will look like in a CL… for sure they look good on a RGS

Hello Miguel, great my info was of help. I am not sure if the company is aware of the two different frames, it might confuse them. The system that is in their webshop indicates 1981 Jota/1200, which is - if you have the forward mounted rear suspension like on the second pic - exactly what you need.

I found in my area several people selling the Krauser pannier carrier for BMW, i think I will buy them and adapt them with the panniers a like, because beeing aware of how lucky I am, probably the wont fit, they will hit either the exhaust pr the suspension, so I think I preffer to adapt a bmw kit…
Is the kind of job I like
 
I had Krauser panniers on my 3C many years ago, the fittings seemed a bit weak and wobbly to me but I never got a chance to use them in anger because I was knocked off the bike and they were wrecked.
