Laverda 3c

Quick update on the laverda 3c I managed to get it started today .but ended up having to connect it to my transit van with jump leads but that only just managed to start it.it turned the engine over but slowly ,relay was hot also I need carb rebuild kits if anyone could tell me where I can get them from would be good

Probably worth sending him your carbs to overhaul. He comes highly recommended.

A starter motor overhaul might be in order too. That bike needs a proper check over, I believe it's been hanging around for quite a while and if it's anything like mine was it will look great and be a mechanical mess.

Ducati Paddy or Stein Dinse for the carb parts.
If the starter is sluggish, and the engine turns freely by hand, either a corroded earth or the starter needs opening and cleaning.

Very likely culprit. That braided earth wire can still look shiny from the outside and be completely corroded inside.

Really good idea to strip, check and clean most of the electrical terminals, the carbs and check the innards of the engine thoroughly or you'll definitely be in for the fun discovery tour that Piet mentions above. You simply don't know the history of the bike or what level of deterioration it has suffered during an obviously very long layoff. A perished o-ring, flaking sire insulation, rust - it can all come back to haunt you on every ride. Not a huge job to give it a thorough going over.
