They need sealing up properly, I think Piet had a lot of problems with rebuilt ones misting up. Maybe a bit of time in a box with some silica gel would dry it out?

Oh and always store them face side up or the damping fluid can leak out.

I recall discussion about keeping an ordinary incandescent instrument lamp in them helps. Changing to a cooler-running LEDs can add to the problem.

Would a small sachet of silica gel left inside work? If all the rubber seals are in place and moisture or vapour can't get in they shouldn't fog up though.

My SF2 instruments have been misting up since I put the bike back on the road in 92. Due to riding with the lights on. They'll stop misting when all the instrument bulbs have blown.

Not unless you regularly take it back out and dehydrate it.

So that assumes that moisture is getting in, not just trapped? If you can get the innards dry and seal them properly, wouldn't that eliminate the misting? Mine never used to mist up.
