Laverda 750 & Emerson, Lake & Palmer

Sad that Keith Emmerson commited suicide, depressed that nerve trouble in his hand would prevent his playing properly.
It was said Jimi Hendrix was planning to join ELP (making it HELP) after THe Band of Gypsies thing finished, and Emmerson once told a quite funny story about ELP playing live with Hendrix watching and filming them from the side of the stage with a cine camera.
Hendrix was stood next to a speaker cabinet and kept motioning to Emmerson to do his knife throwing thing at the speaker so he could capture it on film but Keith was reluctant to do this as Hendrix was so close to the cabinet he thought he might hit Jimi by mistake, but Hendrix kept waving at him to do it,so Emmerson thought oh bugger it then, and threw the knife which flew through the air, missed the centre of the speaker but hit the edge of the cabinet instead, rebounded and flew back across the stage and hit bass player Greg Lake on the head (with the handle thankfully).

When playing live Emmerson used to use up a lot of stage space, leaping about and vaulting over the piano and so on,and one venue they played had quite a small stage with a orchestra pit in front, and Emmerson said that he had to position the piano close to the edge of the stage.
When the gig was under way he forgot about this ,leapt over the piano and ended up in the bottom of the orchestra pit about six feet below.
The other two were up on stage looking at each other going "wheres he disappeared to,he was here a second ago".
Just realised i`ve been mis-spelling Emerson-never mind.

I met Greg Lake at a friends birthday party - so down to earth guy ! He did a session for a long time ELP and King Crimson fan for a small audience  - was a special
Night
what a lucky man he was  :D

Have been a huge fan of ELP at that time, saw their
concerts in Hamburg. But regret to never have seen the Nice.
Saw Refugee instead (Patrick Moraz, Lee Jackson, Brian Davison) in London.
Keith Emerson had some bikes but the most known is the
Commando 850 Hi-Rider (also a contestant in the "ugliest bike"-thread).
