Due to a sticking clutch (several plates stuck together - well the bike had been off the road for at least 20 years) I removed the primary drive cover on the 350 Alpino and the balance shaft came away with the cover ( as expected, sods law)
So now in the process of refitting with the instructions on page 151 of the manual. left cylinder on TDC and the balancer flat part level with the base of the cylinder
The main question is - is it worth refitting or running the bike without, I am not sure in the design which part of the rev range the balance shaft compensates.
The 500 I rebuilt does not have the balance shaft and appears not to vibrate too much ( however I am used to British 360 twins so maybe my thought process is tainted)
I did notice talking to some track day montjuic owners that they had removed the balance shafts.
any views/experience ?
