Laverda caf'racer

Hi Wulf,
here are pix of Laverda cafe racers. One is a twin one is a triple. I like the "dirty" look of the triple very much!
Ciao, Gert

Robinson 8LS I think it was, Ernesto.

What really wrenches my gut though, is the fact that a perfectly good and original GTL was sacrificed for the alloy-tanked twin by the river (Rhine, actually)...

OK by me building specials from wrecks or previously molested/ruined bikes, or even to let a long-used example to evolve, but to tear apart a near-perfect example of one of the rarest of all Laverda models makes me cry!

My brother put one of those Robinson 8LS drums on his Kawasaki 500 Mach III back in the old days. A light touch on the brake lever at low speed and the wheel would lock up. It was especially grabby in damp weather. Was OK at highway speed so would brobably be suitable for a race bike. Bloody lethal on a road bike though.

Cheers,
Cam

gert that rat caff tripple is really cool indeed.
As long as an (attempt to) cafe racer manages to steer clear of the pipe wrap and checkered flag stickers or '59' logo's, they're already cool.
a while ago a pic was posted here of a competitive laverda flat tracker. Does anyone know more of that one?

Hi, Piet.
Robinson 8LS I think it was, Ernesto.

Searched the net. Indeed it IS the (CMA) Dresda:

btw: the "Harton" looks really sharp

Julian,
Both bikes look great, particularly the red one with the USDs. I was only wondering the other day if anybody had done this mod to a SF1/2/3.
Are they yours?

Scrumpy

Hi Scrumpy,
Not mine unfortunately because I do think they would look better in my workshop  :D :D

Julian

That Harton does look the part, for a Harley, the thing that spoils it for me, is the right side of the engine. The design of the right side of the Sportster lump is just horrific. (puke)

Compared to other makes there are very few Laverdas tastefully transformed into Cafe racers. Perhaps because most of Laverda  models were made as cafe racers by default. Try converting your twin or triple into an ultimate cafe racer and you will eventually end up with SFC 750 look.

I'm with Ludi, all solo seat S's, SF's SF1, 3's, 3c's & Jota's look like cafe racers to me. Here's my first 750 way back in the early 80's

Each to their own I guess.

Agree. With brevettato bars, shortened fenders, and removing the counters this SF would make a lot of rockers' hearts miss a beat.
