Early in the year at anglesey classic bike weekend saw a Montjuic with alternative discs and 4 pot calipers did not get chance to talk to the owner. just wondered if anyone has carried out this conversion and what bike the parts were from.
I have been searching for original cast iron discs but they seem to be pretty scarce whereas more modern stuff is more available from breakers etc.
The conversion looked to have been extremely well done

Do the 500's take the same discs as the triples? If so metal gear in Qld do the 280mm disc in stainless. They wait till they have a bunch of orders then do a run. The adaptors in the above photo look custom

On my 78 Jota, I am running the original Brembo 280 mm iron discs with upgraded Brembo 4 pots from a 1990's era Ducati 900SS.
On my 78 1200 Jota America I have 'Made In France'. ? 280 mmm Stainless rotors with the original brake calipers with EBC pads'
The brakes are so much better on the 78 Jota with the 4 pots there really is no comparison. The 4 pots are mounted using 'Guzzi Tech' adaptors for the 4 pots with a 40mm spacing, HTH

Those seem to be the standard later triple discs in 280mm. These have the same bolt pattern and offset as the stock 260mm solid one-piece discs of the 500.

Probably a bit over the top for the lightweight 500, the stock set up is more than ample for road use, it has proved itself under racing conditions as well. Decent pads with PTFE lines (and fresh fluid!) bring about a huge improvement. It amazes me again and again to find 40+ years-old rubber brake lines on regularly used bikes...

The first time I tried braided lines I was shocked at how fine you could feel on the lever pull, old rubber had a crazy amount of lever pull go into line swelling. We had an odd history with them locally. The first place that could supply them was a bunch who imported Earl's stuff in Sydney probably 40 years ago, then there was some ADR crackdown and you needed some kind of TICKET or licence to fit legal braided hoses and for years it was hard to get them made. Even the original importer stopped doing them. For a while it was like buying drugs, you had to know someone.

I fitted unbranded braided lines to the SF1 when i converted to a disc front end. Maybe 1978-9. I think they were Goodrich lines made to measure but no ADR stuff on them. The HELs on the Q have the compliance numbers.
Don't much like the look of those external caliper adapters on the Monty - surely a better and tidier alternative is possible?
