Due to lack of use and needing funding to export my land speed record bike to Bonneville i am reluctantly offering for sale my Mirage 1200TS. Its not perfect but is very tidy and starts and runs beautifully. Recent new clutch plates fitted by Mark himself at BSD Peterborough, a man known for his love of Italian bikes.
Below are the notes from the previous owner explaining its history, doubt i've done 500 miles on it.
a series 2 TS1200, Mirage on a 1981 age related W plate.
Frame and engine number 3260.
Part of a small batch that went from Breganze to South Africa. It was brought in to the U.K. in 2001. It was restored/recommissioned by Keith Nairn of Laverda Scozia between 2010 and 2014. From the time of the resto' and my purchase in 2017 it had covered 319 kilometres only, I have done a further 3000ish, kms, I have an MOT from 2010 showing 35,265 so reading is correct.
1.Yes it's a KM odometer currently showing 39377 kms.
2. 2001
3. Yes, TS1200 model came with a big boxy fairing with side shields originally. I've never seen a TS1200 with the fairing on and mine doesn't either..thankfully.
The handlebars are non standard. The whole bike has been re-wired and has a programmable sachse ignition. I have replaced the fuel taps with BAP taps as the original ones were crap.
4....think that's all covered above.
5. In my ownership I've carried out 3 oil changes myself and checked valve clearances once, Ged at GCS has replaced a starter solenoid and carried out another oil change approximately 200kms ago. I replaced the Battery in December (PC680 Odyssey)
6. Tyres are Avon Roadriders with little wear, they were put on in 2017 just before I bought it.
7. Bike has side and centre stands that are perfectly adjusted and work well. I'm 60, 10.5 stone with arthritis, and a slipped disc and I can get it on no problem, its technique.
8. I have some Mots, but bike came with very little. Everything I know about the bike was gleaned from a phone conversation with Keith Nairn after I bought the bike. During resto' Keith replaced primary and cam chains, installed A11 cams. New chain and sprockets, Frame was powder coated, rewired, seat looks brand new. All fasteners replaced in stainless or nyloc new silencers.
Bike Painted laverda grey (siver)
9. Issues, the front mudguard has slight corrosion bubbles under the paint around the edges of the guard. The rear tail piece top has 3 little blemishes in the paint. If I was keeping it I would repaint the wheels as there are a few Mark's etc..that's it.

Bike is located just outside Oakham in Rutland, and will post photos later, looking for £8250 ono which i think is a very fair price, cheers Ian

I want to see pics of the Bonnie land speed bike!

Ok, so its 5m long, 1.1m high and 0.6 m wide. weighs about 300kgs and has a 100cc turbocharged 2 stroke Derbi engine, using 8lbs of boost makes about 45bhp running 10lbs it will be closer to 50bhp. This class is one of 4 of the longest unbroken records at Bonneville set in 1956 by NSU at 138mph and the absolute world record is 155mph. At a target drag coefficient of less than 0.2, an A class Merc is 0.22, so should be there, i'm aiming for 165mph. Due to ship this Decemeber, been building it for over 4 years. My website is www.racetothesalt.com, with more info.

You have certainly set the goalposts pretty tough. 300kg bike plus a rider up to 165mph with 45 or 50hp!! A shame you ned to sell the Laverda for it though.
