Well, the Laverda world keeps shrinking as those who care about them - owners and parts suppliers - are aging out. Andy just posted that he's done in a few months, and that selling the business is proving difficult (no wonder). Hm.

With Wolfgang also bowing out, it will be interesting to see what happens with the parts situation over the next several years, especially as parts suppliers also age out or won't make the decreasing number of parts needed. Wolfgang told me that the Italian company that made the stainless exhaust systems he sold for years is no longer - it was run by an old guy who seems to have retired.
 
Andy has some pretty interesting bits in his fire sale, a full set of Atlas instruments, pretty cheap, etc. Looks like we're all houring out at the same time. Hands up those under 60.
 
Yes , I received the email from him stating the latest update a couple of days ago .

Generic items , such as plugs , levers , tyres , bulbs , chains...... all the everyday stuff you need to keep the bike on the road shouldn`t be a problem ........... and Malcolm Cox produced his factory - spec exhausts not so long ago......

Maybe as long as regular oil changes and servicing is carried out , then most will continue to roll along without too many problems for a while yet .

It`s difficult to wear out a Laverda , if looked after properly ........ which is a big part of the problem , as far as being a spares supplier is concerned .

Don't know about Chris, I bloody hope so. So impressive after that horror accident years back. BTW, I am well closer to 70 than 60.
 
Cool, that's about when I bought my last serious Dirtbike. Till I actually worked it out. I was 48, that was 20 flippen years ago. Where has all that time gone.

This has happened to MV Augusta and the owners club bought the spares- the real question is what is the value of tons of essentially obsolete spares? I think the Hamrax AJS/Matchless stock was bought by the owners club as well. Difficult because there isn’t many Laverda’s , many owners owning more than one Lav, so not even one owner per bike .
 
Probably those owners clubs have many members with several bikes too. So which country's owners club would it work out to buy the world's Laverda spares?
 
Yes, it had to come, time passes and we all get older, I am one of the youngest people riding Laverdas in Denmark, and I am 63 years old, and I can see how difficult it is to sell a Laverda motorcycle or parts here in Denmark, plus running a company with a large warehouse is very expensive, as I see we are facing a difficult time with our old motorcycles, and think about how many Laverdas are in people's garages, and they will probably also have to be sold one day.
