Laverda SF 750 - Torque settings

Hi All,

A motorcyclist for many years, a newbie Laverda owner and new to the LaverdaForum!

Having purchased my Laverda 1972 SF 750, I'm now working my way through the bike to get it ready for the road (cant wait!) ... having read through the service/maintenance manuals, other than the head bolt/nut torque setting of 36ft/lb, that's it!

Is there a definitive list of torque settings for the SF 750, somewhere?

Any help/signposting much appreciated.

While the original factory user service and parts guide is valuable, I suggest you should get yourself a copy of Tim Parker's Green Book and of the 750 parts catalog from Andy Wagner's shop, between them you'll find a wealth of information including all the torque values in the back of catalog. You'll need some parts eventually and even if not from Andy, his catalog will help you work out what you need to buy.

Hi buddy .. thanks for this ... yes I have a copy of Tim Parker's green Twin & Triple repair and tune up guide .. very useful ... but I don't have a copy of the 750 parts catalog from Andy Wagner's shop, I assume you mean Andy's shop being "www.laverda-paradies.de"?? ... if his parts manual contains a list of torque settings as you say, then I will get one. To be honest, looks like I will be ordering my parts from him given I've had no response from the two main Laverda specialists/parts supplier in the UK ... laverdascozia.co.uk and Slaters, the latter I think is closing down. One question I do have, what should be the cylinder compression psi value be? I get 112psi left/120psi right cylinder. Thanks again

Wolfgang is a very helpful guy, but is he still dispatching to the UK? I thought I read somewhere that he might quit postal sales to the UK at the start of this year for some reason.

A bit more than that! Was that with throttle fully open? Somewhere around 130-140psi would be good, but variability between cylinders rather than absolute value has more meaning given likely (in)accuracy of the gauge. 10psi is reckoned to be the maximum acceptable. Usual to put oil down the plug hole to see if that improves things. If not, valves/seats likely to benefit from some attention. TBH, if the engine runs just go out and ride it this year - it may be a bit tired but unlikely to cause you a major problem.
