Laverda triple cam covers.

No. The RGA cam cover has the tacho drive take off on the right hand side. The 180 cam cover has the take off on the left hand side and is a different style of drive.

Thanks for your reply Alan, very informative.
Presumably it would be possible to take an electronic drive from a different location rather than use the mechanical one.
Also does the 180 cam box have the same gasket shape and securing bolt positions as the RGS/A so that an exchange could theoretically be carried out, or would perhaps the cam chain mounts foul the inside for example.
Are new 180 cam boxes even available from distributors anywhere ?
Sorry for so many questions, still learning about these bikes.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Howard

Howard,

Apart from the non-compatible tach drives, the cam covers are interchangable.  Same gasket, same fixing points.  You might encounter tank clearance issues with the earlier, higher cover on a 120 triple.

Don't quite see the point in a swap, the cover is all but invisible under the RGS/RGA tank.  And, the earlier cover is a right bugger to keep clean over a long period.  A lot more crap collects under the RGS/RGA tanks than under the old 180? tanks.

I have an RGA here with old style cam cover, revcounter shaft  as per 180 position and 120 cams with cam drive in 180 position too.
