Laverda valve shims ?

Over-bucket type shims were used in heaps of engines, but I've never seen any with a notch in the edge of the shim before. It's more usual for the notch (to facilitate removal) to be in the edge of the bucket. Do all of them have that notch? Maybe that will help to identify them.

Most - not all - of the over bucket shims do have a notch. Probably 60% of my 2 Kg or so of Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha shims do.
If I moved two bikes to get to my stash of Honda shims I could confirm what i think those are - Honda shims from the air cooled 16V engines.
They are nominally 25mm OD. I believe they also can be used in some later KTM's.

OK, thanks for that bit of wisdom Greg. I don't doubt a man of your experience, but it's a surprise to me. None of the (1970's -1980's) Jap bikes I've owned had notched shims, so maybe it's a more recent thing. I did a google search earlier today for images of over-bucket shims + notch and nothing came up. I didn't spend a lot of time searching though.
