Merry Christmas fellow fuck-wits. My Laverda miles in 2025 totalled 2 (two) and that was split between 2 bikes. I hope to better that significantly in 2026 and to meet you, out there, on a sweeping road, made of smooth sun-blessed tarmac, sweeping left-right-left-right-pub-chat-horizon.

On Christmas morning, I was up early, no tree, no presents, just a couple of hounds staring at me. Alright, I took them for a hike up the local mountain, let them run wild like a couple of loonies, then back home, now me. Pissed down rain all day Christmas Eve into the night, looking very bleak.
Christmas morning, blue skies, a bit of a chill in the air, the kind that makes you want to go for a ride, so I did. Fired up the 1200, swung my leg over it, and off and into the mountains. No one on the roads, just me and the Lav. It's a magic morning. Ignitech, RedAx Mikunis, Jota pipes (everybody wake up). As my mate Rob would say, "a good Fang." It was better than great, the 1200 dialed in on the new suspension settings, and the motor was singing my favorite Italian opera.
One of those memorable solo rides you never forget, Christmas 2025, I hope I get a few more in.

Ron, I have a Christmas present for you. It is the spread sheet below:

Materials here are based on some material testing with very expensive equipment, some knowledge, and somewhat on good guessing.
Row 2 depicts Aluminium alloy used in many Laverda cylinder heads and the numbers very roughly apply to some other all alloy heads.
Row 3 gives difference to all cast iron cylinder heads generally in engines.
Row 4 gives some parameters for earlier Laverda cylinder heads skulls that have light grey colour.
Row 5 gives some parameters for later Laverda cylinder head skulls that have dark grey colour.

Column B gives the general idea how the skulls do not crack off immediately on the heads, they are also keyed. The unit is 1 per Kelvin.
Column C gives the comparison for heat conductivity, the unit is Watts per meter Kelvin.
Concentrate on cell C4, it is your engine. Think what happens inside the engine because of this when it is paired with careful thermodynamic dimensioning, everything else designed for it in the engine design, and certain somewhat unusual adjustments on the engine.
