Have been giving this issue some thought in relation to my Moto Martin race bike project.
Have been doing the odd track day at our two Tassie tracks for about 12 months and am enjoying it immensly.
Mind you i am on a 2004 Ducati SS800 which has impeccable manners.
I reversed the gear change linkage for yesterdays track day to try out race pattern and just as every one had told me it makes much more sense on the track.
It takes a bit of thought to push down rather than up when selecting a higher gear so that got me thinking.
Being in my 50's i have to consider whats going to happen when i take to the track on my Moto Martin and find myself in a pressure situation (trying a desperate late braking move) when i have to consider the following"
Right side gear change
Left side brake
Race pattern......
Plenty of opportunity for me to have brain fade and get it all wrong...
If i do the conversion im thinking there is years of habit / reactions / experience that i dont have to re-train.
The race track will be stressfull enough i figure without adding all those variables.
