After 10 years of almost faultless service, my Hawker Genesys PC680 is not taking enough load to service my 750 S Formula, so it was time for a replacement. As a friend of mine has a small LiFePo4 Accu in his 668 since years and is very happy with it, I was considering the same. I decided however for one with a bit more Ah (or better: Wh) than suggested by the manufacturer and took a 48Wh => 4Ah one instead of a 24Wh/2Ah one.

Dismounting the PC680 was a real pain as anyone knows that has ever done it on a Zane (you need to unmount the left side panel, the lower part of the inner rear fender, the rear wheel hugger and then all cable are so short you can not really work with a tool to unscrew the cables from the accu...  >:( ). Some skin-loss on my fingers later, the sucker finally came out.

I compared the new accu with the old one and they are not the same size nor the same weight (the new one is 800g, the old one was 7 (!!!) kilos... weight gain however wasn't my focus, but its appreciated  :D). With the battery, there came a lot of foam pats with one adhesive side. I put some into the battery tray, most of them however around the battery itself so that it finally sits in the tray as fixed as the PC680 was. Putting the battery back in was so much easier, as (due to the fact I put some of the foam already on the battery tray...) the size still was way smaller than the PC680. And the weight played another positive role..

After putting everything back on, I turned the key and it took a while until the bike fired up, but the starter kept spinning and spinning... (gave it some pauses to cool down). After the bike started however, I rode a bit down and up the road so the bike warmed up a bit. I stopped the engine after a while (bike still not 100% warm, water temperature still at cool) and started to put all tools away etc. Any attempt afterwards, the bike did spin the engine freely and the bike always fired up right away. So - if the battery lasts as long as the Hawker, that is 14,40?/year for a great improvement in firing up the bike!

Love it!  ;)

Yep that is a couple of extra strudels you can eat every week now

Seriously though, I have a SSB LiPo in the triple, cranks it over effortlessly even when it has been sitting for months, which unfortunately seems to be the order of things at the moment. And as you say, is so much smaller and lighter than the a Deka let alone the original lead acid truck battery that came as standard fitting.

Yeah! I get 50 happy minutes of strimming grass with the old Black and Decker Li Po (Ion).

These batteries seem to have endless supply of energy from a small package, but be warned when they eventually run out of charge it happens very quickly indeed (I keep a spare one ready to go), they also don't like sitting around when depleted before recharge.

My Stihl Li io 36ah battery takes about 20 minutes to charge from flat- just right for a coffee break. :D

I assume that is the same technology Tesla uses in his beautiful cars?!?

Really amazed... I know what will go into the Motoplast, once I am at that stage...  :D
