just got my 1200 ready to try and start it with this little lithium battery wasn’t sure on the out come but was very impressed with the cranking not at all laboured went first time happy now

Had an interesting conversation with Jimmy at the rally, the auto elec that does Reds work. Lithium batteries don't like big variations in voltage. I have had 2 explode here in the workshop this year...... Head mechanic a lucky boy not to get burnt.

That goes for the regular Li-Ionbatteries, only - as far as I know.

LiFePo (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries are specifically designed to withstand vibrations and cannot burn. I am using a Shido LiFePo battery for years now without any problems.

The are only a few things you really need to watch out for is the charging voltage. 14.6 V is the maximum. I have used an adjustable RR from Sachse Elektronik. The other thing is, that generally all types of lithium batteries don't like the cold. You need to "warm it up" by pressing the starter button only briefly a few times, or turn on the head light for a minute...

Totally agree on the cold, they do not like the cold at all
When we started racing with Paul back in 2015 we had a Lithium installed and at Morgan Park in the morning it would be close to 0C, go to the track, prepare bike, stab the starter motor, nearly no grunt at all
Drink Coffee for 4-5 minutes, now try starter button, no issue at all, starts the engine easy as

Great stuff, but I think your auxiliary petrol tank could do with improvement
