I have a tired fuel cap on the 3C that I want to replace when the newly painted tank comes back next week.
I have a locking fuel cap in better condition, but no bladdy key for it.

Is there a quick fix to solve the missing key problem?
Can it be dis-assembled, the mecanism ground back and a.n. other key used?
What should the key look like. It never came with one so I have no idea what I need to find to replace it.

it is a double sided key
very similar to the one used to lock the boot of my giulia

best bet is a locksmith but it could be a case similar to the steering locks
cheaper to get another cylinder than make a key

if you press and twist the lower half it will open and reveal the lock cyl
sits in the casting supporting the outer skin of the cap
you have to remove the outer and a pin holding the back of the lock to the casting
should be pretty straight forward

cheers,
scott

Scott, thanks!
I don't suppose there's any chance of a pic of the key?

Here's a couple more..
I cant make out the name but its something like FAAB from Bologna ?

Grant, thats a hugely rare aluminium tank cap on that bike and could be worth thousands  :D
Seriously though, I've never seen another alloy cap. It is identical to the original but made of aluminium.
Regards Pat.
