Looking for a Mirage or similar

I have a 1982 1200 TS Mirage Series 2 180. I am in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. 10,600 kms from new, 400 kms from no expense spared two year bare frame bare crankcases rebuild. World class paint. All rubber bits, chains, rings, valve springs, consumables of any type, all new.

According to Wolfgang Haerter, who supplied most of the parts and has seen the bike, one of the best in the world. Stock configuration with all bodywork. Deviations from stock is a better paint job than stock, Ikon shocks, and a RedAx/Sasche digital ignition, and currently fitted original Jota exhaust system with carbs jetted to suit. Also have stock Silentium exhaust system in excellent condition. Bike is fully sorted, runs really well

I currently have 9 motorcycles registered and insured, including two Laverda 180 triples and a 120 triple, and it is time to thin the herd again a bit. Will deliver to a crater/shipper of your choice, crating and shipping at your cost. Thinking around $20,000 Canadian, which would be roughly 11,700 GBP. I have purchased bikes from all over the world and imported to Canada. Also have sold and shipped bikes from Canada to various places in the world, including the UK and Australia.

Only reason to do it and incur the extra expense is if you can't find what you want local to yourself. Good luck on your local hunt. It is going to be difficult to find anything nearly as nice as my bike but always worth looking locally. The suggested asking price is less than the parts spend on the bike, and ignores a couple of hundred hours of labour...... You could not build one to this standard for this asking price. To have one built to this standard by anyone relatively local to you who actualy knows what they are doing like Malcolm Cox, Keith Nairn, or Grant Duguid, would likely be at least 20,000 GBP, likely more.

I am not a particularly motivated seller, I keep thinking about offering the bike on eBay or through one of the specialized sellers, but have not gotten around to it. I keep the bike registered, insured, and on a battery maintainer, and ride it once in a while in rotation with the the other bikes. I have just run out of room and need to sell one or more bikes to make room for more bikes I want to experience owning........;);):cool:

Very good points Paul, and your bike is as good as it gets. International boundaries should not be considered a hindrance. Were I to import any bike from another country to Norway, taxes and duties effectively double the purchase cost, with some discount for older bikes. I don't know where UK stands on this but I seem to recall that it has been raised here on the forum, or was that just concerning EU?

If you do buy the above bike I'd love to see a thread on getting it sorted and on the road - and comparing the final price with what Paul in Canada has offered, including shipment from Ca to UK. And interesting exercise if nothing else.
