Making an SF luggage rack fit a GT

Mine is #1303, very early wide frame '68, maybe Oct '68.

Model year1968 starts Sept '68 ends Aug '69. Etc. for Moto Laverda.

'68 GT frame has spikes locating the seat at the front, '69 seat has spades. Seat is wider and the frame tubes are wider under the tank. I.e. later seats and tanks will not fit!

My photos give the dimensions, i.e. suspension bolt centre to rack pivot bolt centre 385mm, rear mounting bolt centre 285mm, width (internal): shock mount 276mm, rear 175mm.

Curious about the above comment. Not that it is important but I thought model years start toward end previous year so is reverse to that comment. IE Model commences production toward end '68 is for the '69 year and is designated a '69 model, '70 models commence end '69 etc etc? Seems to be the norm in motor vehicle production and reflected in model registries. I registered mine as a '69 based on all the info out there, but of course always arguments about actual dates etc................

As far as I'm aware, model years commenced in September, after the Italian holidays in August. ie. The "1976 model 3CL/Jota was manufactured from September '75 until Agust '76, and so on...

Yep, that what was what I was meaning, perhaps my post was unclear.
On this basis bikes built from 9/68 to 8/69 are '69 models, just to be pedantic (yes, I know ample evidence of old model specs used on newer models if at hand at various times)
(Worth also noting that the early bikes often had one off bits that were upgraded quickly in later models. EG Verlicci levers, fuel taps with the clear reservoir, smaller clutch cable clevis etc etc...........only a few dealers that really know their stuff with the early models)

Yes, so my GT is basically a ‘69 bike but has some cues from the ‘68 model. Wider frame, pointed prongs to position and hold bottom front of seat.

But it has the last version of the Grimeca brakes before they went to Laverda developed brakes, and I believe this was also the last year for Smiths clocks.
