A bit remiss of me but many thanks to the ILOC guys who obviously put a lot of effort into the superb weekend and to those that I met who made me welcome. Cheers guys.

I took far too many pics to post here but a few more are attached including a picture of the Norton which flew around the circuit.

well done Bob,
you certainly gave a very good acount of yourself whilst riding Piero's V6 at Mallory,it must have played heavilly on your mind as to the rarity of the machine and public awareness of what you were doing, it would have been extremely difficult to carry on living with yourself had something gone wrong, you looked as though you were doing everything possible to complete your ride without incident, I did see the slower rider holding you up on Gerrards around lap 3, and the faster rider who passed between the two of you creating an unsettling feeling for you, not easy to deal with, but you looked OK.
Marnix has waited about 12 years since Piero stated that a ride would be possible (following his Monthlery paddock first and second gear warm up in 1997) and he was rewarded as well, and also Herman.

To say that there are a few green skinned ILOC members about would be an understatement

You did very well, I for one am very pleased for you, a once per lifetime oportunity.
CLEM

Hi Clem..

Nick and myself came looking for you when we dropped his gear off on Sunday.... I would have really liked to have met up with you... Just to put a face to the name...I also wanted to say "THANK YOU" For all the effort you have put in with the UNIFILTER......Etc

It was a BLOODY GOOD weekend tho'.... I spent a very enjoyable hour or two with Andy Chain who did a great job of lightening my wallet... Sound geezer !!

ALL THE BOYS are great company and I am sorry to have missed YOU !!

          Salute'

                  Tim ;) ;) ;)

Clem , those are very kind words and I thank you for them. I must confess to feeling a little bit sheepish having such a wonderful opportunity presented to me, it was quite amazing. :D
Bob
Ps It wasn't too unerving having people come past me on the track...I`m used to it :D

pps I forgot to mention that on the second lap somebody on a Suzuki came flying past me on the approach to the hairpin and scuttled straight off into the kitty litter! Fortunately I`d taken the defensive inside line for safety reasons otherwise he might have fetched me off with him

CNCtastic!

Went pretty well on the track too. Hag.

What a weekend it was! I can only say that it was a joy to be there, my first UK track event. Started out wet but the Sun(ny)day made up for that. So nice to see so many UK Laverdisti and non Laverdisti at this extremely sympathetic and cosy event. I saw many familiar faces many new ones too and without exception a pleasure to meet. There?s just not enough time in a weekend to have a proper chat with everyone..

As a ?past master? I had the privilege to ride among all the stars on their legendary machines. I reckoned I would carry the red lantern on my 60 bhp Egli but fortunately this was not the case. With Piero on V6 behind me as bulldozer I had to give all to stay in front of him and he really tried, believe me, but the V6?s occasional mis-shifts did help me I must admit. Every lap while braking into the hairpin I could hear the hellish scream of the V6 behind me.. I too found the Norton Wankels the stars of the day. Their way of rounding the hairpin left me in awe..

Piero?s offer to ride the V6 was a massive surprise for me too, as Clem rightly stated it was not the first time for me, but it certainly was the first time on a race track. I felt very much at ease on the machine, it handled much better than I expected and after taking it easy for 2 laps I could push it a bit more the remaining laps which was very exciting indeed and the scream from the exhaust hurt inside my head; of course I did not wear ear plugs! The hardest part was avoiding a false neutral between 2nd and 3rd gear while going through devil?s elbow but for the rest this simply is a fantastic machine to ride! Hope someone took a picture!

I?m so grateful for such a memorable weekend and therefore a very big thanks to ILOC, Ray, Rob, Bob and others  for making it happen, I will never forget it.

The weekend ended in a proper way, friend Frank racing the van to Hull to make it to the ferry just in time..

Marnix

PS: Clem, I can only hope that you will get your well deserved opportunity to sample the V6 too one sunny day!

Here's  low res image of two past masters.... :D

I am not really used to writing on this (or any other) forum, but, I feel I must write to say a big well done to all those who assisted with the organisation of the Laverda part of the weekend with the VMCC, and also with those who assisted with getting the Laverda Corse Team over.
But the main reason is to say that it was extremely good to see, talk and drink with so many like minded Laverda owners, (except for Scrumpy as he posted a photograph of Keith?s bike but not mine!!)  Only joking!!! :D
Now, who is up for a trip to Belgium to the Laverdisti Belgi over the weekend 12/13th  Sept?09, it is to be held for the second year at; Schuurveldstraat, 2260 Oosterwijk, Westerlo, Belgium, approximately 150miles from Calais, could be a giggle!!
Nice to see you all, and hope it?s not too long before we meet again.

Karl

Hi Karl, bloody good do wasn't it. Good beer and great company. Savners included. As my one and only cheerleader you will be pleased to know that my swollen eye has gone down, but the skin around both eyes is now peeling. I look like the chap from the Singing Detective. I found the root cause, a ruddy great insect bite on my arm, some evil beasties live in those Mallory lakes. Realy sorry I didn't get to see your little dance on my way round the track, i was looking at the wrong side of the track. Next time we will get you bigger pom poms.

Nick7 says you were snoring, but you say it was him. Who knows the truth. Only Keith.

BTW, the Belgium event is on the same weekend as the ILOC Int. rally, so don't be worried if no one takes you up on your invite, it isn't because you smell funny. Honest.

Anyway, drop me a private email on karlsafattwat@groovefirst.com (seriously). I want to know if you were OK on Monday. Cheers, Paul H.

Karl,
A thousand apologies, I was snapping away at everything and took over 170 pictures. I got the back end of your bike in one shot (with Keith's bike-posted earlier), the front end in another (with keith-posted here) but not the middle, Sorry. Here's a few more - again with Keith, I'm afraid I dont know how to airbrush him out.

You dont need a photo your avtar says a thousand words.

...mmmboy, nice pix, Scrumpy, especially the Sprint and Corsa. Have you posted any in the Gallery? It sounds like you were quite busy snapping away, and based on the quality of photography and machinery, I'd sure like to see more. Wish I'd been there.

Thanks,

Sheldon

Sheldon,
I sure did snap away some. I can even do it with a can for balance in the spare hand :D I am no longer able to post in the gallery as I have used up my quota of space and dont really want to remove what I have put on there. Yes I do have a few more pics which I have reduced in size so will post them now. That is pretty much all the Lav snaps.
