Hi,
I am cosmetically restoring my marzocchi strada rear shocks. Ive tested the airsacks and 1 holds air the doesnt.
However, the damping appears to be similar between the 2 shocks.
If run at 0 psi cf 28psi std, im assuming performance would be the same.
No spares in UK Mdina out of stock and im trying to decide if I really need to pull them apart.
Cheers Ian

I serviced mine with new seals as they leaked oil - so new oil new seal - pumped the gallery up - tbh I put them back on and couldn’t tell the difference - there’s now a set of basic YSS on her and there’s definitely damping happening - much more pleasant to ride - yes the Marzos were original but i IMG_7451.jpegIMG_6808.jpegprefer a better ride

From very early on in the life of the 500’s, particularly ones that were raced, the Stradas were junked and replaced by Girlings. Therefore, having a pair of shocks fitted other than Stradas is hardly likely to be questioned by most people.

If you are dead set on restoring them and can't get spares in the UK you can always reach out to Steve at Bevel Heaven in California. Gowanloch Ducati in Australia may be another sorce.

Alternately you could just bin them and do yourself a real favour. ;)

Ikon shocks in Albury the way to go. Watched a set of cheap knock off shocks snap in half at Cabramurra on an RGS, luckily our Brett rode down to Albury and picked up a new pair from Ikon, fixed that afternoon.

It would have been bad if those shocks were not noticed. The rider didnt need any more tree experiences. We waited for Brett to get those shocks that day, where else in the world would you be by total accident, that close to the manufacturer? BTW, I had a set a set of red Maz professionally rebuilt for stupid money, and they were still crap.

I wasted many months years ago trying to get the Marzocchi shocks to work on my RGS. Regardless of what oil you use and any other things you can do to try and make them better......................................... they are crap!

Agree the Strada are rubbish in metal, have a bin full of them here. Yet...wait for it, did work on a 650 Pantah Duck? No problem by the ride account i did on that motorcycle, post iis ignition fit and test, owner well known to me over decades as to long term use of the Strada.

Possible the added mass of a 3c made the difference, ( Strada ) will be good on a ladies shopping motorcycle..... Sense Vince warming up.... a wry smile here. j

I can sense a lack of love for the strada shocks, I shall therefore continue to restore and refit!
At the end of the day unless you are going to be racing around a track they are going to be perfect for our pot holed 20mph limit god forbidden highways!..........and it's your bike so you can certainly have it anyway you like (y)
So enjoy the refurb experience for all its worth and refit with pride....😎
