Master cylinder

Can anyone tell me how you remove the piston from a laverda 3c front master cylinder as I can't see a circlip holding the piston in

there isnt a circlip
remove the hydraulic hose union to leave you the female thread, remove lever and pivot bolt
clamp master cylinder in a vice but not so as to crush the body, you are doing this to get a third hand, and hold it, not do anything mechanical and damaging, then use a pin punch that will only just go into the bore of the hydraulic connection, and tap with a hammer to drive out the whole caboodle, its retained by a "use once only" compression/crush washer, when drifting in the new components (everything comes in a kit obtainabale from DucatiPaddy) from the other end, use a long reach socket that is a tad smaller than the bore size, better still a purpose made and turned drift, but be carefull to drift in only as far as you need to, in order to get the lever and pivot back in place. too far and you are stuffed! dont forget to clean and grease the lever pivot bolt/bush, frequently a cause of an audible squeak, or a felt graunch.

remember this is a very important safety feature of your bike, if you have any tiny doubts as to your ability to do the job, (your original question points me here) then send the unit to DucatiPaddy in Dorking, he prices very reasonably, turns around fast, cant help that he is not as good looking as me, but a does a great job.

Thanks clem I'll give it a go many thanks. just got to rest up for a little while as I broke my ankle in to places and only had the cast off last week and it killing me now ill let you know later on today thanks again

There is a clip, but not a circlip It's a spring washer that holds the piston in.
Dismantling as Clem mentions. A long fine screwdriver blade through the exit from the master cylinder and wallop.

well I did describe it as a compression/crush washer Paul, you pernickity old frog, difficult to give it a name I agree, and there is probably a technical term for it, but I dont know what it is. It is defainately not a spring washer
