Matariki is the Maori New Year and this is the second running of this show. Everything welcome but a preponderance of Classic Japanese and Customs.
This year the custom small bikes were out in numbers. Not my thing. A few more racebikes than last year. No Laverdas - but a Bimota SB2.
Some interesting race bikes of which the pic shows four. At the back is one of Paddy Snowden's race Indians. Paddy is the Pumphouse owner and an Indian nutter. The Velo with yellow plate is the famous ex works pre-war 500 which has an extensive history. The Velo with blue plate is the ex Len Perry 350 KTT. Again with extensive history. The more modern 250 in the middle is mine. An AJS Stormer based roadracer. Scratchbuilt frame, rest accumulated parts to fit our pre '72 rules. I built it approx 15 years ago for Peter Pastars. Who used it once and parked it in his collection. I managed to get it off him about 18 months ago and it has undergone the engine development it didn't get at the time. Pretty well ready for next season.
Pic courtesy of old mate Euan Cameron. In the rush I didn't take a camera.
