Mates Royal Enfield..

“It’s ticking a bit..especially in first..”.
Haven’t seen one as bad since I used to work on dispatch rider bikes.
On my way to Calais, in '91, returning from the Interclub Breganze Bash, I had to limit my acceleration on the last 100 miles before the ferry. Tightened the chain on the boat. Sprocket wasn't quite as toasted as that one! New chain and sprockets had been fitted before leaving Blighty, on the way there.
That's why I love modern chain! I recently tightened mine, by one flat, for the first time in 14,000 miles.

I probably tighten the chain on my 750s twice in their useful life.
The near full enclosure of the chaincase helps.

I don't use alloy rear sprockets for that reason anymore. Been caught twice on long trips. Yes, I know unsprung weight, but I prefer getting more ks. I also carry a Shifting spanner that fits the big outer rear wheel nut, as last time I did get slippage, I had no means of adjusting it out. Found one that has narrow jaws and opens way wider than typical, and only 200mm long, plus nice and lightweight. Typical chain adjustment comment in the very rare times it's needed, just one more flat and it's now bow tight. I always end up with one flat too many. It happens every time.

Who can sleep without knowing the legal rights of Swans in England.
Do all UK swans belong to the Queen? Or now King.

The monarch has the right to claim ownership to any mute swan – the all-white, orange-beaked version – in the open waters of Britain, but in practice they exercise this right only in the Thames around Windsor. There are three organisations who can also own swans, thanks to historic grants.15 Dec 2023

Enfield's are an awful lot of bike for very little money and especially the 650 Interceptor/Continental range that are becoming pretty cheap for an older low miles model. They do have their faults simply because they were built down to a price. The front and rear suspension is choppy and the engine gets really hot especially in any kind of traffic but you can do so much with them.
I fitted TEC big bore headers, cannon silencers and a Fuel X module. It now runs a lot cooler and pick-up is the difference between night and day. No more power but much more torque and midrange which is what you really want on a day to day rider.
The look nice as well.20240821_170717.JPG
