LJ,
In case you  are interested, I am going for Michelin Pilot Road3s..the dogs,I am reliably informed, and which will actually warm up as opposed to notionally stickier stuff which wont unless on a track.?230 fitted (they take wheels out and balance etc) ,Watling tyres Catford. Well, if its not raining cos I am not going out if it is...dodgy  Maxxis tyres dotcha know?!

you'll love the 3's. Put a set on my Blade beginning of the summer but due to my enthusiastic riding style on that particular bike I got through the rear in less than 4000 miles. They are brill though. Gone back to the 2's as got longer wear out of them (especially the rear)

Geoff

If you have tyres fitted by the tyre shop (they take your wheels out and put 'em back) make sure you check their work before you ride it. Last time I had a bike shop do a tyre change for me they didn't tighten up the rear axle or reconnect the rear brake torque arm (drum brake)  :o

Quick question, the Hi-Max are 'H' Rated tyres. Suitable for Laverda triples?

Or am I missing something? A bit old and going blind!

thanks,

Mick.

Mick,

My first Mirage (green one) was originally fitted with Dunlop TT100s which were H rated. Been lookinh at this post with interest, has any one tried the Maxxis on a triple yet?

David

...at the price I'm interested, then.

BTW TT100s still available Dunlop K81 made in Japan.... but start at around ?70 for one.

Mick.

I've been using these Maxxis tyres for approx. 2000 km now (on triple). I think they are excellent. Compared to other major brands I have used before, I can't really think anything negative about them. And when you take the price into account, my choice is Maxxis.

Maxxis front&rear delivered 123? (M&p Direct)
Lasertec front&rear delivered 235? (Mynetmoto)

Recently ordered a pair of Maxxis Hi-max tyres for my SF1 from M&P. Bargain ?82/pair delivered. That was until they turned up, they were branded Cheng Shin and looked really cheap. Called M&P straight away to say they had sent me the wrong tyres to be told they were correct and that Maxxis and Cheng Shin were the same company  :o. Rejected them as not being as advertised on their website and had a refund.

Not usually a 'brand name' person so am I being a bit anal about this? Cheng Shin on my Laverda, what would my biker mates think.........

I wouldn't worry about putting Cheng Shin / Maxxis tyres on - we've used them on a variety of our bikes in recent years & been very pleased with them. Aileen preferred the Maxxis tyres to the Pirellis they replaced - cheaper, longer lasting & more feel. When we went back to pirellis because the maxxis were out of stock she ran out of grip and chucked the bike into the scenery. The worst problem has been getting hold of them in the sizes we need  :-[

The clincher for me on buying our first pair was discovering that our local bike mechanic (& freelance hooligan) was using them on his 1200 bandit because they gripped as well & lasted longer than the more expensive Avons he'd been using previously. He didn't (still doesn't) sell or fit tyres so there was no profit in him recommending one brand over another

I've been using Maxxis on my Guzzi for some time now c.20000 miles, there is a bit of confusion because what they brand as Hi Max turns out to be labelled Cheng Sing who manufacturer  Maxiis anyway.
If you buy Promax they are labelled Maxiis. They are both good value for money and give reasonable wear. The Promax is a better tyre (more modern/grippier) and I feel more comfortable with the wet weather grip they offer, so having tried one Hi Max on the rear I've stuck to Promax since.(The Hi Max is okay-ish though)
Best deal recently for a rear 120-90-18 was pneus online. Time before when I needed a front and rear best deal was to buy rear from Pneus online and front from DK motorcycles.I'm really hoping somebody comes out with a pair deal on them.
