the question is really - is it recoverable.. and if not where can I get a replacement.. does Phil still do them?

*slapps head*

I don't believe I just asked if it was recoverable - Dam - off for a beer

yes full of bloody water - probably for 10 year - the amazing thing is that it ran at all

Pick ups may well be OK but I dare say your advance unit will be siezed solid.

Both Sasches and Moto Witt offer a system which does away with the mechanical advance retard unit, either one would be a fine addition to your bike.

It is humorous in a not funny way to have wrecked a good ignition.
We found out not long after getting 750s that the points cover trapped water that followed the wires or condensed, causing problems. A small slot (with a file edge or hacksaw) at the lowest point of the cover avoids it. I have never had a problem with water getting in it.

Was going down the pub for some tea (evening meal) and a pint to drown my sorrows when, going over a speed bump (slowly) something collapsed in the front of the car. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrr

at this rate the bloody thing is going back on ebay, i have allready spent about ?600 on it and it will need some new tyres for sure.

Yes - thats what the acrid black smoke was - its a good job I can laugh in adversity and have a credit card

Boyer Bransden ignition if I see the writing on the top rightly. Beyond me why ignitions (to include one that is raved about on this forum) are built up on a bare flimsy circuit board and are more or less exposed to the elements without any protection against the harsh conditions a bike is exposed to! I'd never buy something like that :-X

:D :D :D  Looks to me like only component which has survived the harsh environment Bimbo's bike has been subjected to is that flimsy PCB!

Have got your e-mail John - got all those parts  - yes the old A/R original unit is not used - we worked that out nearly 40 years ago - Regards - Phil

Hi Gerald - These ignition systems are far from flimsy - the circuit board lasts almost forever - filling it half full of water still hasn't killed it - with it all cleaned up - I wouldn't be surprised if it still works. It can be run with one pickup used only - will get you home unlike most of the others. I have seperated the PK's on my 90 degree racer and actually used the backplate that was on there originally from 30 years ago -still works fine after a 12 year layoff!! - Regards - Phil
