Measurement Needed, Please

You had me going there for a minute, Clem.
A quick look on the web (when I finally got some air time) didn't turn up a lot of Cagiva 500GP parts.

Would be lovely to have but, if I go back to spokes, these discs might rip the front wheel off!

Have fitted a set of Paoli 53mm USD forks from a Zane 750 to my SF2 750.
(I would have killed for a pair of White Power's instead, but they did not come up at the time).

It was a fairly easy fit.
I have yet to measure the trail, but I am told that the SFC's had zero trail, so I just have to beat that.
I have not tried them on the road yet as the bike is a few months (at my slow pace) from being finished.

The biggest concern is the strength of the springs.  The SF2 is a bit heavier than the Zane, but that may be countered by the following:
I have taken a lot of weight off the SF2.
The Paoli's have a lot of adjustment built in.
I always thought the SF2 was a bit stiff anyway!

Hi Dale

Ok, an SF 2 twin.......as far as I know, unfortunately those Zane forks would be too short to graft on to a Breganze triple.......

Another sourse for 320mm disks:

Stein Dinise Product no.: 300182005
Eu299 each.

There is an alternative available with equal measurements :
300182005 - Brake disc 320mm Guzzi, Bimota INOX

Dale, you may end up with a shorter front end (but SFs are very squat up front for their age), but with the 18's that might be OK. I think you'll definitely need heavier springs as there will be a considerable diff in weight, regardless of what you've tossed out - and don't be concerned that the Paolis aren't WPs - they work bewdifully on a Zane.

I run 17s on my SF (sorry, read  'ran - it's been a sleeper in the shed since my kids arrived in the world  :D ). Retaining the std Brembo discs on wire hub, I've had earlyish VFR 41mm (KYB?) with Goldline 08s (std springs were WAY too soft), then early GSXR forks with Tokico 4-spots.

I have a Yamaha YZR-750RR fully adjustable Kayaba USD for it, some monobloc R1 calipers and 320 Brembos from a 916 Duke - all Ebay-type purchases. Have alloy billet rounds waiting by the lathe for the adaptors - measurements tell me it'll all go together nicely - prob no speedo drive - but lived without one of them for many years (when it had a TZ250 4-leading shoe drum on it!!).

Let us know how it all goes.

All interesting stuff there!
Sounds like you do a lot of messing about with the set-up.

Length of the Paolis:
A couple of inches longer than the standard Ceriani's.
Have pushed them up through the yokes and mounted my clip-on bars above the top yoke.

Spring strength:
Will continue as is until I get finished, then try and work out new springs based on the results.

Discs/Wheels has become my major hasle so far (as you may have read above).
-The Paolis are set up for Brembo 4 pot calipers on a 320mm disc.
-I want to stay with 18" wheels.  Currently alloys, but would like to return to the wires if I can find a cheep rear hub with disc brake mounting.
-Don't want to solve the problem by throwing money at it.  Most solutions have been around the Eu600 mark, and would like to reduce that considerably.
Finding a disc or wheels that fit those three criteria has been the problem.
