Hi -Ho Gents,

Metal Side Panel and Tank Badges, (later Series 2 ones) Can they be rechromed? Anyone know just what metal they ae made of? Mine are looking well shabby and need sprucing up, (but I don't want to have them enamelled in standard colours) Anyone know?

They're alloy, not chromed.
Retouching, or painting in various colours, is eminently possible but well above my skillset.
Best left to a professional, IMO.

It depends on what you want to achieve and how much you are willing to spend?........there are companies out there that can restore badges to their original finish or change them to your own requirements.

Otherwise its out with the paint brushes,tidy yours up or buy pattern ones which will give you a good badge base and colour as required.

I used model paint on mine then 2 pack clear coated them. Can get 2pack in an aerosol can these days.

I did my own with 150 degrees c low temperature enamel and they are quite presentable...i soda blasted off the old paint and masked off the different colour powders....i think you are not able to use conventional enamel as it needs 800 degrees c and the badges metal alloy would melt
