Mikuni RS36 - Help!

I have finally given up on my old Dell'Ortos. I just cannot get them to stay in tune. Carbs seem to be able to unbalance themselves at will and then correct themselves back! It worried me last night when I noticed that after quite a few high speed runs my stainless header pipes were turning blue - but only on cylinders 2 and 3! Not bothered about the blue but troubled by two cylinders running hot (or one running cold!).

I am very new to Laverda ownership but the sensible option seems to be to buy a set of Mikuni RS36 carbs, cost of around ?1000 (yikes!).

My bike is a 1979 Slater Mirage 1200 with copy Jota exhaust, 4C cams and standard CR of 8:1. is there anywhere that I can go to get an end to end guide on fitting them? From looking at various threads I need advice on inlet stubs, push/pull throttle, alignment with air box stubs, choke set up and anything else that in my ignorance I don't know about.

Is there anyone in the UK that I can go to? All help and advice appreciated.

a) there is Red in Australia (not really UK, I know) who does an excelent job on supplying a full set including everything you need, set to the right jetting etc.

b) there is Steven Topham in Germany (slightly outside UK I'd say...  :D ), who also supplies the carbs and the push-pull throttle, but not the manifolds and other stuff...

CV's worked for me. I got a set of 36mm Keihin CVK's off a Triumph Thunderbird sport & set about them with a hacksaw. Bit of faffing about making bits & bobs but they work a treat & I retained the standard air box. They stay in tune & I've not (touch wood!) had a cold fouled plug since fitting them three years ago. Cost me about ?150 all in :D
